Which three books would you recommend?
The Lexus and the Olive TreeThomas L. Friedman
Friedman was writing about how globalization has evolved historically and how it is changing the way we view our planet. The Lexus and the Olive Tree, first published in 1999 held incredible insights into, what was then, the interconnected world. This is a great starting point for anyone who wants to read about what the world was like before the take-over of social media, the impact of 9-11 and rise of China. Friedman's following work continues to examine how our interconnected economy and cultural spheres are constantly changing.
Pecked to Death by DucksTim Cahill
I remember reading this while traveling through West Africa in 1996. I would sit at the back of a beat up bus on a 12 hour journey and laugh out loud and freak out the other passengers. This is a book for anyone who needs a good laugh.
The Lord of the RingsJ. R. R. Tolkien
