The Celestine Prophecy James Redfield
To be fair, I read this when I was in high school when I was just opening my mind to the vast possibilities of connectivity. It basically was my proverbial opening of a door just a crack, and then backing up to run at it with my shoulder to burst it open so wide that it could never be closed again. 17yr old me was blown away. So I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in the things you can't see but know are there to guide you. It's written in a way that's digestible and enjoyable. It doesn't patronize you. It gives you verbiage to explain.
I, Tina Tina Turner and Kurt Loder
This is the ultimate story of a woman who is so strong and so talented and so holistically nurturing and empathetic, who goes through all the horrific moments in life with such heroic grit and perseverance. If you need a reminder of what a human can endure and still come out on top, full of love, full of hope, and with no space left for fear, this book will show you that good trumps evil, and finding joy in life takes time and work, but it is a reward worth the effort.

It's written by a very good friend of mine. It documents a lot of the things I grew up with - Asian American life, streetwear, hustle, collaboration, self-definition, etc. Growing up as an Asian Canadian in a small town, you were never really sure if there were others like you out there. When I met Bobby, and in the years leading up to us becoming friends, I was truly learning to love who I was and he really tied it up nicely and put a cover on it for me :)
Whose reading list are you most curious about?
I generally take recommendations from my close friends who I believe/know are smarter than me. Who wants to know it all? Please draw back the curtain and surprise me. The older you get, the more experience you have, the fewer elements of surprise enter your life because you control most of it. I'm seeking those moments of shock. Let me see something differently :)
