Which three books would you recommend?
Crucial Conversations Kerry Patterson, Joseph Grenny, Ron McMillan and Al Switzler
People are at the heart of everything meaningful that we do and in the defining moments of our lives, conversations become crucial. This book is one of the few books that have changed my life and how I approach relationships, and the world around me. Anyone looking to communicate better when it really matters will benefit immensely from this book.
Range David Epstein
This book present a different perspective on the popular view that the formula for mastery is to spend 10,000 hours practicing a skill. Instead, Epstein argues that breath within a field and across domains trumps specialisation in a world as complex as ours. My own path through life has seemed random at times, but I’ve felt the benefit of past experiences outside my current domain. Now, I think about this all the time in hiring.
Shoe DogPhil Knight
Shoe Dog by Phil Knight is one of the best memoirs I’ve ever read about a business person. Unlike so many memoirs, it’s not an ego gratifying display of his awesomeness. Instead, it’s a very personal and candid account of the ups and (many) downs of his life and quest to building one of the most iconic brands in history.
